foundation piering

Magnum Piering’s patented Steel Push Piers are used to lift and stabilize foundations and slabs that have settled.  This foundation piering system is recognized in the industry as one of the most efficient and cost effective means of foundation repair on both residential and commercial levels.

The first step in the process of foundation piering involves small excavation areas at each pier location.  Once the footer is visible it is then dressed in order to accept one of two bracket styles that will be used.  After mounting the steel brackets to the footer, calibrated hydraulic rams are then attached.  These rams will drive 3” diameter steel piers to bedrock or supporting strata and, depending on the application requirements, either 1/8” or 1/4” wall thickness steel piers may be used.

When the hydraulic rams are properly mounted, the job foreman will then systematically pressure each pier, one at a time, using a laser level as a reference. Alternating pier locations will ensure that the piers are driven to supporting strata without putting undue stress on the structure.  Our crews have such control of the lifting process that multiple hydraulic rams can be connected together and the structure can be lifted evenly without the possibility of over-lifting.  The ultimate goal is to close cracks in mortar or blocks and raise the structure back to a level close to original.  However, in rare cases only minimal lift is realized but the structure is stabilized to prevent further settlement.
