Concrete Pumping

Concrete has been the rock of our society for many years. It is a substance that hardens and becomes a solid surface for us to walk on. It has been used in sidewalks, buildings, floors, and even driveways. What many people don’t realize is that someone actually has to pour the concrete, and for that job there are a few things needed.

Naturally there needs to be a cement truck and of course a concrete pump. The concrete pump is fairly simple as it is just used to transfer the liquid. The process ensures that the concrete gets to its destination quickly and efficiently. In the concrete industry there are two different types of pumps, the first of these being the trailer mounted pump.

This type of pump is fairly common. You will normally see it mounted on a boom. They are great for large construction sites because they can get to places that larger trucks cannot. They also require less labor and they can pump at higher volumes than many other concrete pumps.

The next type of concrete pump is the one that you see most often. This looks quite a bit like the trailer mounted pump, but rather than being on a trailer, it is mounted on the back of a truck. These trucks are known as boom pump trucks, and they require hoses on the outside of the machine in order to function. These do not work at quite as high a volume as line pumps, but they are adequate for smaller projects. Some of those projects could include swimming pools, decks, driveways, etc.

For some projects there are skid mounted concrete pumps. This would come in handy for jobs that are in hard to access areas or even mines. This is pretty rare, but you might see them occasionally. All of the pumps will require some human interaction, but some will require less than others. For instance the truck mounted boom pumps will require much more guidance than the trailer mounted types.
